Believe in Yourself
Confidence and self esteem can affect everything we do, and can dictate success or failure. If we believe we can achieve, then there is a high chance that we will succeed. If we doubt ourselves, or feel that we don't deserve success, then we will probably fail miserably- and then tell ourselves, "I told you so". Experiences from childhood often stay with us and formulate our self image. positive experiences reinforce the belief that we can achieve anything we set out to do. If these experiences were negative, it can be hard to have any self belief. But there are ways to increase your self confidence, and to help yourself succeed.
Our 5 tips for a more confident you are:
- Look around you. The successful people in the world are no better than you. Some may have a spectacular talent, but most don't. Most just have self belief. Believe you can do it and you will succeed.
- Think about what you are good at and what you enjoy doing. Play to your strengths and make success easier.
- When you set a target, and achieve it, you feel better in yourself. This spurs you on to more success. So, set achievable goals for yourself. When these have been met, set another set of goals. Bite size achievements build into great overall successes.
- Realise that people who put you down have no confidence in themselves. They try to make others feel bad because they feel bad about themselves. Look at them as sad, insignificant people, because that is what they are. Remember- no one can make you feel bad without your permission!
- Sometimes things don't go according to our plans- no matter how successful we are. But, there is always something we can learn when it all goes wrong. Approach setbacks with a positive attitude, and you will find opportunities- not problems.
